Armed police swoop on Bradford street after man seen with ‘imitation firearm’

A 36-year-old man has been arrested

A man has been arrested after armed police were called to a Bradford street following reports of a man carrying what appeared to be a handgun.

Officers were called to Frank Street at 6.11pm on Sunday (April 26) after members of the public reported seeing the man with the weapon.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Armed officers were deployed to the scene and discharged an attenuating energy projectile (AEP), which is a less-lethal option for firearms situations, and the man was detained.

“He has been taken to hospital for assessment but is not believed to have received any life threatening or serious injury.”

The 36-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
