Sheffield Daves can get free chicken in bizarre Dave’s Hot Chicken giveaway
Sheffield chicken lovers called Dave could be in for a very tasty treat this month as a famous chicken chain launches a nationwide mission to ‘Save the Dave’.
Dave’s Hot Chicken is celebrating Dave’s Day on Tuesday, October 13, with free food for Daves across the country.
The Sheffield restaurant is located on Cambridge Street, where the chain opened earlier this year, in the former Ask Italian unit.

As part of the ‘save the Dave’ campaign, anyone named Dave, David, Dafydd, Davide or another recognised variation can head to their nearest Dave’s Hot Chicken, show valid photo ID and walk away with a free slider.
The campaign was started because according to the chicken chain, Britain has a ‘Dave problem’.
David was once one of the country’s most popular boys’ names, topping the charts in England and Wales in both 1954 and 1964.
By 1996, David had dropped to 32nd place, and the latest Office for National Statistics figures show it ranked just 73rd last year, with 712 baby Davids born.
Now Dave’s Hot Chicken wants to reverse the decline and is offering free chicken to make it happen.
How can I get free Dave’s Hot Chicken?
If your name is Dave, David, Dafydd, Davide or another recognised variation, you can visit Dave’s Hot Chicken on Tuesday, October 13.
You will need to show valid photo ID to prove your name before getting your free slider.
Dave’s Hot Chicken will also be handing out deed poll forms in its restaurants, giving non-Daves the chance to officially change their first name.
Anyone who officially changes their first name to Dave by October 31, 2026, can receive free Dave’s Hot Chicken for an entire year.
Keyana Mohammadi, marketing director of Dave’s Hot Chicken UK and Ireland, said the company wanted to celebrate the people behind the name that started it all.
She said: “We’re incredibly excited to bring Dave’s Day to the UK and Ireland. It’s a chance to celebrate the people behind the name that started it all, and when we discovered just how dramatically David had fallen down the baby name charts, we knew we had to do something about it.
“Save the Dave is our way of giving Britain’s Daves the recognition they deserve, with free chicken obviously, while hopefully inspiring a few new ones along the way. And for anyone willing to go as far as officially changing their name, we think free Dave’s for a year is a pretty fitting reward.”
Non-Daves can also take advantage of a Buy One, Bank One offer by signing up for Dave’s Day through the Dave’s Hot Chicken app and making a qualifying purchase of £6.49 or more.
A free slider will then be added to their loyalty account, which can be redeemed between October 14 and November 10, 2026.
