Could, by chance, this invasion have been caused by the market owner’s [Sheffield City Council] neglect in its general supervision cleaning operations?

Moor Market is a great place to shop with those conducting business, often being family owned with generations of friendly retail service.

Butchers, bakers, fishmongers, Cheese monger, green grocers, clothing, nuts, delis, on site caterers, hairdressers, and many which I’ve missed out, as they are at the moment.

Will they all survive? They get up at some at some unearthly hour to load up provisions and set up at the market for an 8am opening.

The stalls are always regimentally laid out; great care being taken on their displays.

What is their landlord doing to compensate their clients for loss of earnings, rent rebate? Who is the manager responsible for appointing the cleaning contractors, and what inspections are taking place on a disciplined regular basis? Are these questions being answered?

They should be and fast!

What might the effect be of regular customers? Upon re-opening will they return? These questions are currently unanswerable, but they can rely on this one.

The likely bureaucratic excuse will be that the unusual June heat attracted these pests and then, the daddy of them all, climate change.

Nothing to do with landlord neglect.
