The chain has amassed over five million followers on TikTok and has been a hugely popular addition to Sheffield’s city centre since arriving
The UK’s most-followed jacket potato creators, SpudBros, will be handing out 100 free potatoes in Sheffield City Centre.

The one-day giveaway takes place as part of celebrations for the International Day of the Potato as spud-mania continues to take centre stage throughout the country.
SpudBros’ journey began in 1955 when a hot potato cart first opened on Preston’s Flag Market. Decades later, Jacob and Harley have transformed the family tradition into one of the UK’s most followed food businesses with more than five million followers on TikTok and over a million subscribers on YouTube.
The pair have also launched a franchise called SpudBros Express which has various stores throughout the UK, including London, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Blackburn, Wakefield and Barnstaple.
Each location serves the brand’s cult-favourite menu items, from the Tram Classic loaded with garlic butter, the signature three-cheese mix, beans, crispy onions and world-famous tram sauce, to the Spudfather topped with chilli con carne, tuna coleslaw and bolognese, alongside the ever-popular build-your-own option.
The store based in Fargate, which is open seven days a week between 11am and 8pm, has remained popular throughout the last seven months drawing in a combination of locals and tourists alike.
In a statement, organisers explained that customers will be able to purchase a jacket potato from opening time at each participating store from Saturday morning (30 May), with the first 100 customers at each place receiving a complimentary spud.
Jacob Nelson, co-founder of SpudBros, said: “It’s crazy to think something as simple as a jacket potato has built this kind of community. International Day of the Potato felt like the perfect excuse to give something back to the people who queue up, support us online and have helped turn SpudBros into what it is today. We can’t wait to see everyone in store and celebrate properly with free spuds across the country.”
